Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

While we have a policy in place that define our commitment to equal opportunities, we recognise that there is much more we can do. The events of Spring 2020 have caused us to reflect on how we can take our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion further. We have appointed an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Guardian who will be conducting an audit and preparing an action plan for meaningful change in our business. During this process we expect to seek external advice, to listen and understand the issues so that we can take the appropriate actions.

Our current equal opportunities policy wording is as follows:

The Company is committed to equal opportunities in the workplace and in the creation of products, books, marketing materials and marketing copy. We have a responsbility to reflect the diverse community at large and not show any bias towards any sex, age, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, race, colour, religion, ethnic or national origin.

The Company seeks to employ a workforce which reflects the diverse community at large because the Company values the individual contribution of people irrespective of sex, age, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, race, colour, religion, ethnic or national origin.

All employees will be treated with dignity and respect. The Company will use its best endeavours to provide a working environment free from unlawful discrimination, harassment or victimisation on the grounds of sex, age, marital status, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, race, colour, religion, ethnic or national origin.

The Company recognises its legal obligations including those under the Race Relations Act, Sex Discrimination Act, Equal Pay Act, Disability Discrimination Act and the Part Time Workers legislation.

The Company will not tolerate acts which breach this policy and all instances of such behaviour or alleged behaviour will be taken seriously, fully investigated and may be subject to the disciplinary procedures of the Company.

If an existing employee becomes disabled the Company will make every effort to retain him or her.
